Gift And Take (GAT) was founded in 2006, upon Singaporean Lance Ng’s return from
missionary trip to a home for the physically disabled in Indonesia. He wanted to
help in a sustainable way, and believed that neither charity nor tourists buying
artwork, were the answer.
Together with two like-minded Singaporeans, he started GAT, a business enterprise
that would deal either directly with disadvantaged people or through audited agencies
sheltering them, to create handcrafted products matched to their skills.
By actively marketing their creative products in Singapore, GAT is able to provide
them with fair and on-time compensation, paving their way to financial independence
Today, GAT has established its niche in offering a wide range of quality handmade
products to corporate clients, retailers and individual gift buyers. It is run by
engineer-turned-social entrepreneur Yvette Lau, with the help of a dedicated team
GAT’s handmade products are distributed via retail and non-profit outlets, weekend
fairs, special-themed private events, by word-of-mouth and our website.
